Origins
Before it had a name
I started making candles because I wanted one for my own home. Something natural, without the fillers and synthetic fragrances most candles seemed to have. So I began experimenting myself, testing waxes and scents late in the evenings.
The real shift happened somewhere I wasn’t looking for it. Visiting my grandparents, surrounded by eucalyptus and wild rockrose, I started working with the plants themselves. Drying them, testing them, making my own scented oils by hand.
Somewhere in that process, I stopped trying to make a candle smell nice. I was trying to recreate a feeling. Open windows, slow conversations, the sense that there was always more time than usual.
That candle became Em Alentejo.
